Decorah is a wonderful community in the beautiful rolling hills and bluffs of Northeast Iowa.  The town is lively with many events and things to do throughout the year.  There are numerous restaurants you will enjoy while staying in Decorah.  There are also many shops where you can find gifts, antiques, children and adult clothing boutiques, home decor, kitchen and culinary items, and the list goes on.  Also, there are many tempting salons and day spas in Decorah where you could find yourself having a very relaxing time. 

     The people in Decorah are very proud of their Norwegian heritage and it definitely shows.  Take a tour of Vesterheim (a Norwegian-American Museum), or look through the Scandinavian imports at Vanberia (a store located downtown).  

     After spending some time downtown, you'll be glad to find multiple opportunities for outdoor activities.  Tube or canoe down the beautiful Upper Iowa river and you will appreciate the magnificent views of the huge limestone bluffs that tower over the river.  Or, maybe you'd like to spend some time trout fishing in one of the many coldwater streams in the area.  Your kids (and you) will enjoy the wonderful parks in Decorah or maybe the large municipal swimming in the pool.  A brand new bike trail is a wonderful asset to the community, and will be complete in the near future.

     In the wintertime, you'll love the cross-country skiing trails as an opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise.  Decorah is a wonderful place to be around Christmastime, with multiple community events and holiday activities.  No matter what season or time of year you plan to visit Decorah and Whispering Pines, you will fall in love with the community.
